Had a meal compliments of the casino… Ok we paid more for it than if we had just went to the restaurant but that is how comps work. Tomorrow the big Island.

Well not much to report here. Somewhere in the middle of the Pacific. Its getting warmer as we head south. My internet connection isn’t quite as good as a dial up modem. Oh well, lots of food and alcohol on the menu for today. Will hopefully hit land in a couple of days….

On the boat and sailing away. Will see what kind of excitement we can find on the boat. Stay tuned…

It was surprisingly quiet for a Friday in Vegas—tourism is definitely down. Lines were short, and getting through security at both Vegas and Vancouver airports was a breeze.
After arriving at our hotel, we found we were able to check in early. We then took a taxi to the Gas Town area of downtown Vancouver. We spent some time walking around and stopped at a coffee shop to do a bit of people-watching.
One of the highlights was a clock that runs on steam. Amusingly, it doesn’t seem to keep accurate time, but it was still fascinating to see.
It’s been a long day. Just kicking back for the rest of it.
Off to the ship tomorrow

Five sea days coming and going. I have done five sea days before, but I’ve never had ten of them on the same cruise. I’m going to try to keep my exercise level up to at least slow down the inevitable weight gain. I’m guessing I’ll be ready to enjoy some time on land after that many days at sea. I’ll provide updates as we find land or something meaningful happens on the boat.
The boys are going stir crazy. Five minutes outside and even my heat seeking bulldog was fading fast. I am trying to adapt to their schedule. They insist…

Spending the week in the Seattle area. We drove out to Port Angeles today, and things have changed quite a bit. It doesn’t look anything like it did forty years ago when I lived there—feels kind of run down now.
One highlight was a quick visit to the Game Farm. My rental car now has drool running down the passenger-side door. The murder cows (buffalo) were a bit unnerving as they towered over the car.
I didn’t get too many pictures because, as they warn up front, you’ve got to keep moving—they’ll sometimes abuse a stationary vehicle.

Well, I had almost finished setting up a new server when I made the fateful decision to add one more application (Time-shift) to protect a couple of weeks’ worth of configuration efforts. Unfortunately, it completely destroyed my file system.
I did have backups, but they were a bit outdated. Long story short, I’m back up and running. I lost some data, but I’ve been piecing things back together. Hopefully, I’ll get the remaining bugs and glitches sorted out soon.

Well the new keyboard worked. Bad news I was unable to resolve the issues with the touch pad and the wireless adapter. I was able to plug in a usb network adapter and everything is functional for now. I see a new computer in my future…
Blue has been battling pancreatitis for the past month. Last week, he crawled onto my lap and promptly threw up all over my keyboard. I wiped it off as quickly as I could. At first, I thought I had cleaned it up fast enough—everything continued working for a while.
Unfortunately, I’ve now started to lose keys. Parts are on the way, but replacing the keyboard assembly won’t be a trivial repair. I’ll have to disassemble the entire machine, as everything anchors to the keyboard assembly.
I could’ve had someone else repair it for me, but that would cost about half the price of a new machine. I was willing to invest fifty bucks in hopes of a successful fix.
Hopefully, things work out. There’s a chance I’ll discover more damage as I take it apart.
More to come as the parts arrive—stay tuned…
